Qui cum abiissent, et hoc mandassent David, misit in occursum eorum (grandem enim contumeliam sustinuerant) et praecepit ut manerent in Jericho, donec cresceret barba eorum, et tunc reverterentur.

And when they were gone, they sent word to David, who sent to meet them (for they had suffered a great affront) and ordered them to stay at Jericho till their beards grew and then to return.

Καὶ ἦλθον ἀπαγγεῖλαι τῷ Δαυὶδ περὶ τῶν ἀνδρῶν· καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοῖς, ὅτι ἦσαν ἠτιμωμένοι σφόδρα· καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς, Καθίσατε ἐν Ἱερειχὼ ἕως τοῦ ἀνατεῖλαι τοὺς πώγωνας ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀνακάμψατε.

quanto magis putatis deteriora mereri supplicia qui Filium Dei conculcaverit, et sanguinem testamenti pollutum duxerit, in quo sanctificatus est, et spiritui gratiae contumeliam fecerit ?

How much more, do you think he deserveth worse punishments, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God and hath esteemed the blood of the testament unclean, by which he was sanctified, and hath offered an affront to the Spirit of grace?

πόσῳ, δοκεῖτε, χείρονος ἀξιωθήσεται τιμωρίας ὁ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καταπατήσας, καὶ τὸ αἷμα τῆς διαθήκης κοινὸν ἡγησάμενος ἐν ᾧ ἡγιάσθη, καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς χάριτος ἐνυβρίσας;"
