Leviticus 26 30
|
Destruam excelsa vestra, et simulacra confringam. Cadetis inter ruinas idolorum vestrorum, et abominabitur vos anima mea,
|
I will destroy your high places, and break your idols. You shall fall among the ruins of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

Καὶ ἐρημώσω τὰς στήλας ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐξολοθρεύσω τὰ ξύλινα χειροποίητα ὑμῶν, καὶ θήσω τὰ κῶλα ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τὰ κῶλα τῶν εἰδώλων ὑμῶν, καὶ προσοχθιεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου ὑμῖν.

In magna autem domo non solum sunt vasa aurea, et argentea, sed et lignea, et fictilia : et quaedam quidem in honorem, quaedam autem in contumeliam.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth: and some indeed unto honour, but some unto dishonour.

Ἐν μεγάλῃ δὲ οἰκίᾳ οὐκ ἔστιν μόνον σκεύη χρυσᾶ καὶ ἀργυρᾶ, ἀλλὰ καὶ ξύλινα καὶ ὀστράκινα, καὶ ἃ μὲν εἰς τιμήν, ἃ δὲ εἰς ἀτιμίαν."

Apocalypse 9 20
|
Et ceteri homines, qui non sunt occisi in his plagis, neque poenitentiam egerunt de operibus manuum suarum, ut non adorarent daemonia, et simulacra aurea, et argentea, et aerea, et lapidea, et lignea, quae neque videre possunt, neque audire, neque ambulare,
|
And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, οἳ οὐκ ἀπεκτάνθησαν ἐν ταῖς πληγαῖς ταύταις, οὐ μετενόησαν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν, ἵνα μὴ προσκυνήσωσιν τὰ δαιμόνια, καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ χρυσᾶ καὶ τὰ ἀργυρᾶ καὶ τὰ χαλκᾶ καὶ τὰ λίθινα καὶ τὰ ξύλινα, ἃ οὔτε βλέπειν δύναται, οὔτε ἀκούειν, οὔτε περιπατεῖν·"
