Κύριε Θεὲ, σὺ ἤρξω δεῖξαι τῷ σῷ θεράποντι τὴν ἰσχύν σου, καὶ τὴν δύναμίν σου, καὶ τὴν χεῖρα τὴν κραταιὰν, καὶ τὸν βραχίονα τὸν ὑψηλόν· τίς γάρ ἐστι Θεὸς ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ ἢ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅστις ποιήσει καθὰ ἐποίησας σὺ, καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἰσχύν σου;
The seventh is the day of the sabbath, that is, the rest of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not do any work therein, thou nor thy son nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant nor thy maidservant, nor thy ox, nor thy ass, nor any of thy beasts, nor the stranger that is within thy gates: that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest, even as thyself.
Deuteronomy 6 15 quoniam Deus aemulator Dominus Deus tuus in medio tui : nequando irascatur furor Domini Dei tui contra te, et auferat te de superficie terrae. Because the Lord thy God is a jealous God in the midst of thee: lest at any time the wrath of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and take thee away from the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 7 12 Si postquam audieris haec judicia, custodieris ea, et feceris, custodiet et Dominus Deus tuus pactum tibi, et misericordiam quam juravit patribus tuis : If after thou hast heard these judgments, thou keep and do them, the Lord thy God will also keep his covenant to thee, and the mercy which he swore to thy fathers: Καὶ ἔσται ἡνίκα ἂν ἀκούσητε τὰ δικαιώματα ταῦτα, καὶ φυλάξητε καὶ ποιήσητε αὐτὰ, καὶ διαφυλάξει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου σοὶ τὴν διαθήκην καὶ τὸ ἔλεος, ὃ ὤμοσε τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν.
He is thy praise, and thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thy eyes have seen.
But if thou desirest to eat, and the eating of flesh delight thee, kill, and eat according to the blessing of the Lord thy God, which he hath given thee, in thy cities: whether it be unclean, that is to say, having blemish or defect: or clean, that is to say, sound and without blemish, such as may be offered, as the roe, and the hart, shalt thou eat it: Ἀλλʼ ἢ ἐν πάσῃ ἐπιθυμίᾳ σου θύσεις, καὶ φαγῇ κρέα κατὰ τὴν εὐλογίαν Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου, ἣν ἔδωκέ σοι ἐν πάσῃ πόλει· ὁ ἀκάθαρτος ἐν σοὶ καὶ ὁ καθαρὸς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό φάγεται αὐτό, ὡς δορκάδα ἢ ἔλαφον.
Even as the roe and the hart is eaten, so shalt thou eat them: both the clean and unclean shall eat of them alike.
Deuteronomy 13 2 et evenerit quod locutus est, et dixerit tibi : Eamus, et sequamur deos alienos quos ignoras, et serviamus eis : And that come to pass which he spoke, and he say to thee: Let us go and follow strange gods, which thou knowest not, and let us serve them: Ἐὰν δὲ ἀναστῇ ἐν σοὶ προφήτης ἢ ἐνυπνιαζόμενος τὸ ἐνύπνιον, καὶ δῷ σοι σημεῖον ἢ τέρας,
And there shall be no poor nor beggar among you: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in the land which he will give thee in possession.
If one of thy brethren that dwelleth within thy gates of thy city in the land which the Lord thy God will give thee, come to poverty: thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor close thy hand, Ἐὰν δὲ γένηται ἐν σοὶ ἐνδεὴς ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου ἐν μιᾷ τῶν πόλεών σου ἐν τῇ γῇ, ᾗ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου δίδωσί σοι, οὐκ ἀποστέρξεις τὴν καρδίαν σου, οὐδʼ οὐ μὴ συσφίγξεις τὴν χεῖρά σου ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου τοῦ ἐπιδεομένου.
Deuteronomy 15 9 Cave ne forte subrepat tibi impia cogitatio, et dicas in corde tuo : Appropinquat septimus annus remissionis : et avertas oculos tuos a paupere fratre tuo, nolens ei quod postulat mutuum commodare : ne clamet contra te ad Dominum, et fiat tibi in peccatum. Beware lest perhaps a wicked thought steal in upon thee, and thou say in thy heart: The seventh year of remission draweth nigh; and thou turn away thy eyes from thy poor brother, denying to lend him that which he asketh: lest he cry against thee to the Lord, and it become a sin unto thee.
Deuteronomy 18 10 Nec inveniatur in te qui lustret filium suum, aut filiam, ducens per ignem : aut qui ariolos sciscitetur, et observet somnia atque auguria, nec sit maleficus, Neither let there be found among you any one that shall expiate his son or daughter, making them to pass through the fire: or that consulteth soothsayers, or observeth dreams and omens, neither let there be any wizard, Οὐχ εὑρεθήσεται ἐν σοὶ περικαθαίρων τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ ἐν πυρὶ, μαντευόμενος μαντείαν, κληδονιζόμενος, καὶ οἰωνιζόμενος, φαρμακοῖς
That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, lest thou be guilty of blood.
Deuteronomy 19 11 Si quis autem, odio habens proximum suum, insidiatus fuerit vitae ejus, surgensque percusserit illum, et mortuus fuerit, fugeritque ad unam de supradictis urbibus, But if any man hating his neighbour, lie in wait for his life, and rise and strike him, and he die, and he flee to one of the cities aforesaid, Ἐὰν δὲ γένηται ἐν σοὶ ἄνθρωπος μισῶν τὸν πλησίον, καὶ ἐνεδρεύσῃ αὐτὸν, καὶ ἐπαναστῇ ἐπʼ αὐτὸν, καὶ πατάξῃ αὐτοῦ ψυχὴν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, καὶ φύγῃ εἰς μίαν τῶν πόλεων τούτων·
And shall not return, before he be washed with water in the evening: and after sunset he shall return into the camp.
Thou shalt not deliver to his master the servant that is fled to thee.
Deuteronomy 23 22 Si nolueris polliceri, absque peccato eris. If thou wilt not promise, that shalt be without sin.
But that which is once gone out of thy lips, thou shalt observe, and shalt do as thou hast promised to the Lord thy God, and hast spoken with thy own will and with thy own mouth.
But thou shalt pay him the price of his labour the same day, before the going down of the sun, because he is poor, and with it maintaineth his life: lest he cry against thee to the Lord, and it be reputed to thee for a sin.
The stranger that liveth with thee in the land, shall rise up over thee, and shall be higher: and thou shalt go down, and be lower.
Deuteronomy 28 46 Et erunt in te signa atque prodigia, et in semine tuo usque in sempiternum : And they shall be as signs and wonders on thee, and on thy seed for ever.
The man that is nice among you, and very delicate, shall envy his own brother, and his wife, that lieth in his bosom, Ὁ ἁπαλὸς ὁ ἐν σοὶ καὶ ὁ τρυφερὸς σφόδρα, βασκανεῖ τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ αὐτοῦ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα τὴν ἐν τῷ κόλπῳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὰ καταλελειμμένα τέκνα, ἃ ἂν καταλειφθῇ
Deuteronomy 30 9 et abundare te faciet Dominus Deus tuus in cunctis operibus manuum tuarum, in sobole uteri tui, et in fructu jumentorum tuorum, in ubertate terrae tuae, et in rerum omnium largitate. Revertetur enim Dominus, ut gaudeat super te in omnibus bonis, sicut gavisus est in patribus tuis : And the Lord thy God will make thee abound in all the works of thy hands, in the fruit of thy womb, and in the fruit of thy cattle, in the fruitfulness of thy land, and in the plenty of all things. For the Lord will return to rejoice over thee in all good things, as he rejoiced in thy fathers: Καὶ εὐλογήσει σε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ἐν παντὶ ἔργῳ τῶν χειρῶν σου, ἐν τοῖς ἐκγόνοις τῆς κοιλίας σου, καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἐκγόνοις τῶν κτηνῶν σου, καὶ ἐν τοῖς γεννήμασι τῆς γῆς σου, ὅτι ἐπιστρέψει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εὐφρανθῆναὶ ἐπὶ σοὶ εἰς ἀγαθὰ, καθότι εὐφράνθη ἐπὶ τοῖς πατράσι σου·
Deuteronomy 31 26 Tollite librum istum, et ponite eum in latere arcae foederis Domini Dei vestri : ut sit ibi contra te in testimonium. Take this book, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God: that it may be there for a testimony against thee.
Josue 5 14 Qui respondit : Nequaquam : sed sum princeps exercitus Domini, et nunc venio. And he answered: No: but I am prince of the host of the Lord, and now I am come. Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, ἐγὼ ἀρχιστράτηγος δυνάμεως Κυρίου, νυνὶ παραγέγονα. Καὶ Ἰησοῦς ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, δέσποτα, τί προστάσσεις τῷ σῷ οἰκέτῃ;
Josue 13 6 omnium qui habitant in monte a Libano usque ad aquas Maserephoth, universique Sidonii. Ego sum qui delebo eos a facie filiorum Israel. Veniat ergo in partem haereditatis Israel, sicut praecepi tibi. Of all that dwell in the mountains from Libanus, to the waters of Maserephoth, and all the Sidonians. I am he that will cut them off from before the face of the children of Israel. So let their land come in as a part of the inheritance of Israel, as I have commanded thee.
Josue 14 9 Juravitque Moyses in die illo, dicens : Terra, quam calcavit pes tuus, erit possessio tua, et filiorum tuorum in aeternum : quia secutus es Dominum Deum meum. And Moses swore in that day, saying: The land which thy foot hath trodden upon shall be thy possession, and thy children for ever, because thou hast followed the Lord my God.
And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people are still too many, bring them to the waters, and there I will try them: and of whom I shall say to thee, This shall go with thee, let him go: whom I shall forbid to go, let him return.
Judges 11 12 Et misit nuntios ad regem filiorum Ammon, qui ex persona sua dicerent : Quid mihi et tibi est, quia venisti contra me, ut vastares terram meam ? And he sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, to say in his name: What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me, to waste my land? Καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰεφθάε ἀγγέλους πρὸς βασιλέα υἱῶν Ἀμμὼν, λέγων, τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοὶ, ὅτι ἦλθες πρὸς μὲ τοῦ παρατάξασθαι ἐν τῇ γῇ μου;
Judges 14 16 Quae fundebat apud Samson lacrimas, et quaerebatur, dicens : Odisti me, et non diligis : idcirco problema, quod proposuisti filiis populi mei, non vis mihi exponere. At ille respondit : Patri meo et matri nolui dicere : et tibi indicare potero ? So she wept before Samson and complained, saying: Thou hatest me, and dost not love me: therefore thou wilt not expound to me the riddle, which thou hast proposed to the sons of my people. But he answered: I would not tell it to my father and mother: and how can I tell it to thee? Καὶ ἔκλαυσεν ἡ γυνὴ Σαμψὼν πρὸς αὐτὸν, καὶ εἶπε, πλὴν μεμίσηκάς με καὶ οὐκ ἠγάπησάς με, ὅτι τὸ πρόβλημα ὃ προεβάλου τοῖς υἱοῖς τοῦ λαοῦ μου, οὐκ ἀπήγγειλάς μοι αὐτό· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Σαμψὼν, εἰ τῷ πατρί μου καὶ τῇ μητρί μου οὐκ ἀπήγγελκα, σοὶ ἀπαγγείλω;
1_Kings 9 20 Et de asinis quas nudiustertius perdidisti, ne sollicitus sis, quia inventae sunt. Et cujus erunt optima quaeque Israel ? nonne tibi et omni domui patris tui ? And as for the asses, which were lost three days ago, be not solicitous, because they are found. And for whom shall be all the best things of Israel? Shall they not be for thee and for all thy father's house? Καὶ περὶ τῶν ὄνων σου τῶν ἀπολωλυιῶν σήμερον τριταίων, μὴ θῇς τὴν καρδίαν σου αὐταῖς, ὅτι εὕρηνται· καὶ τίνι τὰ ὡραῖα τοῦ Ἰσραήλ; οὐ σοὶ, καὶ τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός σου;
Let our lord give orders, and thy servants who are before thee, will seek out a man skilful in playing on the harp, that when the evil spirit from the Lord is upon thee, he may play with his hand, and thou mayst bear it more easily.
1_Kings 18 22 Et mandavit Saul servis suis : Loquimini ad David clam me, dicentes : Ecce places regi, et omnes servi ejus diligunt te : nunc ergo esto gener regis. And Saul commanded his servants to speak to David privately, saying: Behold, thou pleasest the king, and all his servants love thee. Now, therefore be the king's son in law.
And you shall say: Peace be to my brethren, and to thee, and peace to thy house, and peace to all that thou hast.
1_Kings 25 28 Aufer iniquitatem famulae tuae : faciens enim faciet Dominus tibi domino meo domum fidelem, quia praelia Domini, domine mi, tu praeliaris : malitia ergo non inveniatur in te omnibus diebus vitae tuae. Forgive the iniquity of thy handmaid: for the Lord will surely make for my lord a faithful house, because thou, my lord, fightest the battles of the Lord: let not evil therefore be found in thee all the days of thy life.
2_Kings 1 26 Doleo super te, frater mi Jonatha, decore nimis, et amabilis super amorem mulierum. Sicut mater unicum amat filium suum, ita ego te diligebam. I grieve for thee, my brother Jonathan: exceeding beautiful, and amiable to me above the love of women. As the mother loveth her only son, so did I love thee.

Blessed be the Lord thy God, whom thou hast pleased, and who hath set thee upon the throne of Israel, because the Lord hath loved Israel for ever, and hath appointed thee king, to do judgment and justice.

So they girded sackcloths on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said to him: Thy servant, Benadad, saith: I beseech thee let me have my life. And he said: If he be yet alive, he is my brother.

And it came to pass, when Jezabel heard that Naboth was stoned, and dead, that she said to Achab: Arise, and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezrahelite, who would not agree with thee, and give it thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

But as we know not what to do, we can only turn our eyes to thee.

Isaias 26 3 Vetus error abiit : servabis pacem ; pacem, quia in te speravimus. The old error is passed away: thou wilt keep peace: peace, because we have hoped in thee.
Isaias 33 2 Domine, miserere nostri, te enim exspectavimus ; esto brachium nostrum in mane, et salus nostra in tempore tribulationis. O Lord, have mercy on us: for we have waited for thee: be thou our arm in the morning, and our salvation in the time of trouble.
This is the word which the Lord hath spoken of him: The virgin the daughter of Sion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn: the daughter of Jerusalem hath wagged the head after thee.
