16:1 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
Καὶ σὺ μὴ λάβῃς γυναῖκα, λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ,
וַ/יְהִ֥י דְבַר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥/י לֵ/אמֹֽר
16:2 [Non accipies uxorem, et non erunt tibi filii et filiae in loco isto.
*H Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons and daughters in this place.


Ver. 2. Place. It was going to be destroyed, and the cares of a family might interrupt the prophet. The Fathers believe that Jeremias never married, (see S. Jer. in C. xxiii. Isidor.) which was then a rare example. C. — He always lived a single life, and not only in time of tribulation. S. Jer. c. Jov. 1. W. — The Church enforces this law of God for her sacred ministers, in subdeacons and the higher orders. S. Paul shews the propriety of such a regulation, (1 Cor. vii.) which innovators deem unnatural and tyrannical. How then could God enforce it once? With his grace we may observe celibacy like Jeremias. H.

καὶ οὐ γεννηθήσεταί σοι υἱὸς, οὐδὲ θυγάτηρ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ.
לֹֽא תִקַּ֥ח לְ/ךָ֖ אִשָּׁ֑ה וְ/לֹֽא יִהְי֤וּ לְ/ךָ֙ בָּנִ֣ים וּ/בָנ֔וֹת בַּ/מָּק֖וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
16:3 Quia haec dicit Dominus super filios et filias qui generantur in loco isto, et super matres eorum, quae genuerunt eos, et super patres eorum, de quorum stirpe sunt nati in terra hac :
For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons and daughters, that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bore them: and concerning their fathers, of whom they were born in this land:
Ὅτι τάδε λέγει Κύριος περὶ τῶν υἱῶν καὶ περὶ τῶν θυγατέρων τῶν γεννωμένων ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ, καὶ περὶ τῶν μητέρων αὐτῶν τῶν τετοκυιῶν αὐτοὺς, καὶ περὶ τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν τῶν γεγεννηκότων αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ,

16:4 Mortibus aegrotationum morientur : non plangentur, et non sepelientur : in sterquilinium super faciem terrae erunt, et gladio et fame consumentur : et erit cadaver eorum in escam volatilibus caeli et bestiis terrae.
*H They shall die by the death of grievous illnesses: they shall not be lamented, and they shall not be buried, they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed with the sword, and with famine: and their carcasses shall be meat for the fowls of the air, and for the beasts of the earth.


Ver. 4. Illnesses, denoting God's wrath. S. Jer. — Earth. The privation of sepulture was accounted one of the greatest evils.

ἐν θανάτῳ νοσερῷ ἀποθανοῦνται, οὐ κοπήσονται, καὶ οὐ ταφήσονται· εἰς παράδειγμα ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς ἔσονται· καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς ἔσονται καὶ τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ· ἐν μαχαίρᾳ πεσοῦνται, καὶ ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσονται.
מְמוֹתֵ֨י תַחֲלֻאִ֜ים יָמֻ֗תוּ לֹ֤א יִסָּֽפְדוּ֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יִקָּבֵ֔רוּ לְ/דֹ֛מֶן עַל פְּנֵ֥י הָ/אֲדָמָ֖ה יִֽהְי֑וּ וּ/בַ/חֶ֤רֶב וּ/בָֽ/רָעָב֙ יִכְל֔וּ וְ/הָיְתָ֤ה נִבְלָתָ/ם֙ לְ/מַאֲכָ֔ל לְ/ע֥וֹף הַ/שָּׁמַ֖יִם וּ/לְ/בֶהֱמַ֥ת הָ/אָֽרֶץ
16:5 Haec enim dicit Dominus : Ne ingrediaris domum convivii, neque vadas ad plangendum, neque consoleris eos, quia abstuli pacem meam a populo isto, dicit Dominus, misericordiam et miserationes.
*H For thus saith the Lord: Enter not into the house of feasting, neither go thou to mourn, nor to comfort them: because I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the Lord, my mercy and commiserations.


Ver. 5. Feasting: usual at burials for all relations. C. — This custom reduced many to poverty. Jos. Bel. ii. 1. —

Τάδε λέγει Κύριος, μὴ εἰσέλθῃς εἰς θίασον αὐτῶν, καὶ μὴ πορευθῇς τοῦ κόψασθαι, καὶ μὴ πενθήσῃς αὐτοὺς, ὅτι ἀφέστακα τὴν εἰρήνην μου ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου·
כִּֽי כֹ֣ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אַל תָּבוֹא֙ בֵּ֣ית מַרְזֵ֔חַ וְ/אַל תֵּלֵ֣ךְ לִ/סְפּ֔וֹד וְ/אַל תָּנֹ֖ד לָ/הֶ֑ם כִּֽי אָסַ֨פְתִּי אֶת שְׁלוֹמִ֜/י מֵ/אֵ֨ת הָ/עָ֤ם הַ/זֶּה֙ נְאֻם יְהוָ֔ה אֶת הַ/חֶ֖סֶד וְ/אֶת הָֽ/רַחֲמִֽים
16:6 Et morientur grandes et parvi in terra ista : non sepelientur, neque plangentur, et non se incident, neque calvitium fiet pro eis.
*H Both the great and the little shall die in this land: they shall not be buried nor lamented, and men shall not cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them.


Ver. 6. Cut. Moses prohibited this being done in honour of Adonis. Lev. xix. 27. Deut. xiv. 1. Ezec. xxvii. 31. "The custom of cutting the arms and hair still subsists in Judea," says S. Jerom; and in other countries. Plut. Herodot. iv. 71.

Οὐ μὴ κόψονται αὐτοὺς, οὐδὲ ἐντομίδας οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσι, καὶ οὐ ξυρηθήσονται,
וּ/מֵ֨תוּ גְדֹלִ֧ים וּ/קְטַנִּ֛ים בָּ/אָ֥רֶץ הַ/זֹּ֖את לֹ֣א יִקָּבֵ֑רוּ וְ/לֹֽא יִסְפְּד֣וּ לָ/הֶ֔ם וְ/לֹ֣א יִתְגֹּדַ֔ד וְ/לֹ֥א יִקָּרֵ֖חַ לָ/הֶֽם
16:7 Et non frangent inter eos lugenti panem ad consolandum super mortuo, et non dabunt eis potum calicis ad consolandum super patre suo et matre.
*H And they shall not break bread among them to him that mourneth, to comfort him for the dead: neither shall they give them to drink of the cup, to comfort them for their father and mother.


Ver. 7. Cup. Most exquisite things were sent on such occasions. Buxtorf, Syn. xxxv. Prov. xxxi. 6. Tob. iv. 18. John xi. 19.

καὶ οὐ μὴ κλασθῇ ἄρτος ἐν πένθει αὐτῶν εἰς παράκλησιν ἐπὶ τεθνηκότι· οὐ ποτιοῦσιν αὐτὸν ποτήριον εἰς παράκλησιν ἐπὶ πατρὶ καὶ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ.

16:8 Et domum convivii non ingrediaris, ut sedeas cum eis, et comedas, et bibas.
*H And do not thou go into the house of feasting, to sit with them, and to eat and drink:


Ver. 8. Feasting. Heb. "of drinking," in times of joy.

Εἰς οἰκίαν πότου οὐκ εἰσελεύσῃ σὺ, συγκαθίσαι μετʼ αὐτῶν τοῦ φαγεῖν καὶ πιεῖν.
וּ/בֵית מִשְׁתֶּ֥ה לֹא תָב֖וֹא לָ/שֶׁ֣בֶת אוֹתָ֑/ם לֶ/אֱכֹ֖ל וְ/לִ/שְׁתּֽוֹת
16:9 Quia haec dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israel : Ecce ego auferam de loco isto, in oculis vestris, et in diebus vestris, vocem gaudii et vocem laetitiae, vocem sponsi et vocem sponsae.
For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold I will take away out of this place in your sight, and in your days the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
Διότι τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ, ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ καταλύω ἐκ τοῦ τόπου τούτου ἐνώπιον τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ὑμῶν, φωνὴν χαρᾶς, καὶ φωνὴν εὐφροσύνης, φωνὴν νυμφίου, καὶ φωνὴν νύμφης.

16:10 Et cum annuntiaveris populo huic omnia verba haec, et dixerint tibi : Quare locutus est Dominus super nos omne malum grande istud ? quae iniquitas nostra, et quod peccatum nostrum, quod peccavimus Domino Deo nostro ?
And when thou shalt tell this people all these words, and they shall say to thee: Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced against us all this great evil? what is our iniquity? and what is our sin, that we have sinned against the Lord our God?
Καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἀναγγείλῃς τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ἅπαντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα, καὶ εἴπωσι πρὸς σὲ, διατί ἐλάλησε Κύριος ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς πάντα τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα; τίς ἡ ἀδικία ἡμῶν; καὶ τίς ἡ ἁμαρτία ἡμῶν, ἣν ἡμάρτομεν ἔναντι Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν;
וְ/הָיָ֗ה כִּ֤י תַגִּיד֙ לָ/עָ֣ם הַ/זֶּ֔ה אֵ֥ת כָּל הַ/דְּבָרִ֖ים הָ/אֵ֑לֶּה וְ/אָמְר֣וּ אֵלֶ֗י/ךָ עַל מֶה֩ דִבֶּ֨ר יְהוָ֤ה עָלֵ֨י/נוּ֙ אֵ֣ת כָּל הָ/רָעָ֤ה הַ/גְּדוֹלָה֙ הַ/זֹּ֔את וּ/מֶ֤ה עֲוֺנֵ֨/נוּ֙ וּ/מֶ֣ה חַטָּאתֵ֔/נוּ אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָטָ֖אנוּ לַֽ/יהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽי/נוּ
16:11 dices ad eos : Quia dereliquerunt me patres vestri, ait Dominus, et abierunt post deos alienos, et servierunt eis, et adoraverunt eos, et me dereliquerunt, et legem meam non custodierunt.
Thou shalt say to them: Because your fathers forsook me, saith the Lord: and went after strange gods, and served them, and adored them: and they forsook me, and kept not my law.
Καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς, ἀνθʼ ὧν ἐγκατέλιπόν με οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ ᾤχοντο ὀπισω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων, καὶ ἐδούλευσαν αὐτοῖς, καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐμὲ ἐγκατέλιπον, καὶ τὸν νόμον μου οὐκ ἐφυλάξαντο·
וְ/אָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵי/הֶ֗ם עַל֩ אֲשֶׁר עָזְב֨וּ אֲבוֹתֵי/כֶ֤ם אוֹתִ/י֙ נְאֻם יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יֵּלְכ֗וּ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וַ/יַּעַבְד֖וּ/ם וַ/יִּשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ לָ/הֶ֑ם וְ/אֹתִ֣/י עָזָ֔בוּ וְ/אֶת תּוֹרָתִ֖/י לֹ֥א שָׁמָֽרוּ
16:12 Sed et vos pejus operati estis quam patres vestri : ecce enim ambulat unusquisque post pravitatem cordis sui mali, ut me non audiat.
*H And you also have done worse than your fathers: for behold every one of you walketh after the perverseness of his evil heart, so as not to hearken to me.


Ver. 12. Fathers. Hence you are justly partakers of their punishment. Mat. xxiii. 32. C. — A continuance in sin brings on severe punishments; after which, God again shews mercy. W.

Καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπονηρεύσασθε ὑπὲρ τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν· καὶ ἰδοὺ ὑμεῖς πορεύεσθε ἕκαστος ὀπίσω τῶν ἀρεστῶν τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν τῆς πονηρᾶς, τοῦ μὴ ὑπακούειν μου.
וְ/אַתֶּ֛ם הֲרֵעֹתֶ֥ם לַ/עֲשׂ֖וֹת מֵ/אֲבֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֑ם וְ/הִנְּ/כֶ֣ם הֹלְכִ֗ים אִ֚ישׁ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ שְׁרִר֣וּת לִבּֽ/וֹ הָ/רָ֔ע לְ/בִלְתִּ֖י שְׁמֹ֥עַ אֵלָֽ/י
16:13 Et ejiciam vos de terra hac in terram quam ignoratis, vos et patres vestri : et servietis ibi diis alienis, die ac nocte, qui non dabunt vobis requiem.
*H So I will cast you forth out of this land, into a land which you know not, nor your fathers: and there you shall serve strange gods day and night, which shall not give you any rest.


Ver. 13. Gods. Elohim, "masters," &c. C. xvii. 4. Chal. "idolatrous nations."

Καὶ ἀποῤῥίψω ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ταύτης εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν οὐκ ᾔδειτε ὑμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, καὶ δουλεύσετε ἐκεῖ θεοῖς ἑτέροις, οἳ οὐ δώσουσιν ὑμῖν ἔλεος.
וְ/הֵטַלְתִּ֣י אֶתְ/כֶ֗ם מֵ/עַל֙ הָ/אָ֣רֶץ הַ/זֹּ֔את עַל הָ/אָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יְדַעְתֶּ֔ם אַתֶּ֖ם וַ/אֲבֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֑ם וַ/עֲבַדְתֶּם שָׁ֞ם אֶת אֱלֹהִ֤ים אֲחֵרִים֙ יוֹמָ֣ם וָ/לַ֔יְלָה אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא אֶתֵּ֥ן לָ/כֶ֖ם חֲנִינָֽה
16:14 Propterea ecce dies veniunt, dicit Dominus, et non dicetur ultra : Vivit Dominus qui eduxit filios Israel de terra Aegypti,
Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, when it shall be said no more: The Lord liveth, that brought forth the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
Διατοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ οὐκ ἐροῦσιν ἔτι, ζῇ Κύριος ὁ ἀναγαγὼν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου,
לָ/כֵ֛ן הִנֵּֽה יָמִ֥ים בָּאִ֖ים נְאֻם יְהוָ֑ה וְ/לֹֽא יֵאָמֵ֥ר עוֹד֙ חַי יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר הֶעֱלָ֛ה אֶת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
16:15 sed : Vivit Dominus qui eduxit filios Israel de terra aquilonis, et de universis terris ad quas ejeci eos : et reducam eos in terram suam, quam dedi patribus eorum.
*H But, The Lord liveth, that brought the children of Israel out of the land of the north, and out of all the lands to which I cast them out: and I will bring them again into their land, which I gave to their fathers.


Ver. 15. Fathers. He joins consolation with distressing predictions, and alludes to the redemption of mankind, of which the return of the Jews was the most striking pledge.

ἀλλὰ, ζῇ Κύριος, ὃς ἀνήγαγε τὸν οἶκον Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ γῆς Βοῤῥᾶ, καὶ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν χωρῶν οὗ ἐξώσθησαν ἐκεῖ· καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν, ἣν ἔδωκα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν.
כִּ֣י אִם חַי יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶעֱלָ֜ה אֶת בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ צָפ֔וֹן וּ/מִ/כֹּל֙ הָֽ/אֲרָצ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִדִּיחָ֖/ם שָׁ֑מָּ/ה וַ/הֲשִֽׁבֹתִי/ם֙ עַל אַדְמָתָ֔/ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לַ/אֲבוֹתָֽ/ם
16:16 Ecce ego mittam piscatores multos, dicit Dominus, et piscabuntur eos : et post haec mittam eis multos venatores, et venabuntur eos de omni monte, et de omni colle, et de cavernis petrarum.
*H Behold I will send many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them: and after this I will send them many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill and out of the holes of the rocks.


Ver. 16. Rocks. They shall be found in all their lurking places. Ezec. xii. 12. Hab. i. 4. C. — The apostles shall save them. Orig. — The Medes and Persians shall grant them liberty; or rather Nabuchodonosor shall fish at first, and afterwards hunt or destroy more of the Jews. C. — Apostolical men (W.) shall be like rocks, (S. Jer.) for the protection of their hearers.

Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τοὺς ἁλιεῖς τοὺς πολλοὺς, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ ἁλιευσουσιν αὐτούς· καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἀποστέλλω τοὺς πολλοὺς θηρευτὰς, καὶ θηρεύσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐπάνω παντὸς ὄρους, καὶ ἐπάνω παντὸς βουνοῦ, καὶ ἐκ τῶν τρυμαλιῶν τῶν πετρῶν.
הִנְ/נִ֨י שֹׁלֵ֜חַ ל/דוגים לְ/דַיָּגִ֥ים רַבִּ֛ים נְאֻם יְהוָ֖ה וְ/דִיג֑וּ/ם וְ/אַֽחֲרֵי כֵ֗ן אֶשְׁלַח֙ לְ/רַבִּ֣ים צַיָּדִ֔ים וְ/צָד֞וּ/ם מֵ/עַ֤ל כָּל הַר֙ וּ/מֵ/עַ֣ל כָּל גִּבְעָ֔ה וּ/מִ/נְּקִיקֵ֖י הַ/סְּלָעִֽים
16:17 Quia oculi mei super omnes vias eorum : non sunt absconditae a facie mea, et non fuit occultata iniquitas eorum ab oculis meis.
For my eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, and their iniquity hath not been hid from my eyes.
Ὅτι οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ἐπὶ πάσας τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἐκρύβη τὰ ἀδικήματα αὐτῶν ἀπέναντι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου.
כִּ֤י עֵינַ/י֙ עַל כָּל דַּרְכֵי/הֶ֔ם לֹ֥א נִסְתְּר֖וּ מִ/לְּ/פָנָ֑/י וְ/לֹֽא נִצְפַּ֥ן עֲוֺנָ֖/ם מִ/נֶּ֥גֶד עֵינָֽ/י
16:18 Et reddam primum duplices iniquitates et peccata eorum, quia contaminaverunt terram meam in morticinis idolorum suorum, et abominationibus suis impleverunt haereditatem meam.
*H And I will repay first their double iniquities, and their sins: because they have defiled my land with the carcasses of their idols, and they have filled my inheritance with their abominations.


Ver. 18. Double: enormous. H. C. xvii. 18. — I will punish them doubly. — Carcasses. So he styles the victims, or idols, the representations of dead men.

Καὶ ἀνταποδώσω διπλὰς τὰς κακίας αὐτῶν, καὶ τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν, ἐφʼ αἷς ἐβεβήλωσαν τὴν γῆν μου ἐν τοῖς θνησιμαίοις τῶν βδελυγμάτων αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἀνομίαις αὐτῶν, ἐν αἷς ἐπλημμέλησαν τὴν κληρονομίαν μου.
וְ/שִׁלַּמְתִּ֣י רִֽאשׁוֹנָ֗ה מִשְׁנֵ֤ה עֲוֺנָ/ם֙ וְ/חַטָּאתָ֔/ם עַ֖ל חַלְּלָ֣/ם אֶת אַרְצִ֑/י בְּ/נִבְלַ֤ת שִׁקּֽוּצֵי/הֶם֙ וְ/תוֹעֲב֣וֹתֵי/הֶ֔ם מָלְא֖וּ אֶת נַחֲלָתִֽ/י
16:19 Domine, fortitudo mea, et robur meum, et refugium meum in die tribulationis, ad te gentes venient ab extremis terrae, et dicent : Vere mendacium possederunt patres nostri, vanitatem quae eis non profuit.
*H O Lord, my might, and my strength, and my refuge in the day of tribulation: to thee the Gentiles shall come from the ends of the earth, and shall say: Surely our fathers have possessed lies, a vanity which hath not profited them.


Ver. 19. Them. After the captivity many were converted. Esth. viii. and 1 Esd. vi. 21. Edom was forced to receive circumcision. But this was nothing in comparison with the crowds which embraced the gospel.

Κύριε σὺ ἰσχύς μου, καὶ βοήθειά μου, καὶ καταφυγή μου ἐν ἡμέραις κακῶν· πρὸς σὲ ἔθνη ἥξουσιν ἀπʼ ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἐροῦσιν, ὡς ψευδῆ ἐκτήσαντο οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν εἴδωλα, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐτοῖς ὠφέλημα;
יְהוָ֞ה עֻזִּ֧/י וּ/מָעֻזִּ֛/י וּ/מְנוּסִ֖/י בְּ/י֣וֹם צָרָ֑ה אֵלֶ֗י/ךָ גּוֹיִ֤ם יָבֹ֨אוּ֙ מֵֽ/אַפְסֵי אָ֔רֶץ וְ/יֹאמְר֗וּ אַךְ שֶׁ֨קֶר֙ נָחֲל֣וּ אֲבוֹתֵ֔י/נוּ הֶ֖בֶל וְ/אֵֽין בָּ֥/ם מוֹעִֽיל
16:20 Numquid faciet sibi homo deos, et ipsi non sunt dii ?
*H Shall a man make gods unto himself and they are no gods?


Ver. 20. Make gods. This consideration alone suffices to shew their absurdity. C. — "Man must now be merciful to god!" Tert. Apol. — No one can make even a man, much less a god. S. Jer. W.

Εἰ ποιήσει ἑαυτῷ ἄνθρωπος θεοὺς, καὶ οὗτοι οὐκ εἰσὶ θεοί.
הֲ/יַעֲשֶׂה לּ֥/וֹ אָדָ֖ם אֱלֹהִ֑ים וְ/הֵ֖מָּה לֹ֥א אֱלֹהִֽים
16:21 Idcirco ecce ego ostendam eis per vicem hanc, ostendam eis manum meam, et virtutem meam, et scient quia nomen mihi Dominus.]
*H Therefore behold I will this once cause them to know, I will shew them my hand and my power: and they shall know that my name is the Lord.

Διατοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δηλώσω αὐτοῖς ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ τὴν χεῖρά μου, καὶ γνωριῶ αὐτοῖς τὴν δύναμίν μου, καὶ γνώσονται, ὅτι ὄνομά μοι Κύριος.
