And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
Καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς μὲ, λέγων,
וַ/יְהִ֥י דְבַר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥/י לֵ/אמֹֽר
6:2 Fili hominis, pone faciem tuam ad montes Israel, et prophetabis ad eos,
*H Son of man set thy face towards the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them.
Ver. 2. Mountains, where idols were chiefly adored. Here their votaries find death. W. — Israel, including all God's people, as the sacred writers make no distinction (C.) after the destruction of Samaria.
υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, στήρισον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ προφήτευσον ἐπʼ αὐτὰ,
בֶּן אָדָ֕ם שִׂ֥ים פָּנֶ֖י/ךָ אֶל הָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְ/הִנָּבֵ֖א אֲלֵי/הֶֽם
6:3 et dices : [Montes Israel, audite verbum Domini Dei. Haec dicit Dominus Deus montibus et collibus, rupibus et vallibus : Ecce ego inducam super vos gladium, et disperdam excelsa vestra,
And say: Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, and to the rocks, and the valleys: Behold, I will bring upon you the sword, and I will destroy your high places.

וְ/אָ֣מַרְתָּ֔ הָרֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שִׁמְע֖וּ דְּבַר אֲדֹנָ֣/י יְהוִ֑ה כֹּה אָמַ֣ר אֲדֹנָ֣/י יְ֠הוִה לֶ/הָרִ֨ים וְ/לַ/גְּבָע֜וֹת לָ/אֲפִיקִ֣ים ו/ל/גאית וְ/לַ/גֵּאָי֗וֹת הִנְ/נִ֨י אֲנִ֜י מֵבִ֤יא עֲלֵי/כֶם֙ חֶ֔רֶב וְ/אִבַּדְתִּ֖י בָּמֽוֹתֵי/כֶֽם
6:4 et demoliar aras vestras, et confringentur simulacra vestra, et dejiciam interfectos vestros ante idola vestra :
*H And I will throw down your altars, and your idols shall be broken in pieces: and I will cast down your slain before your idols.

Καὶ συντριβήσονται τὰ θυσιαστήρια ὑμῶν, καὶ τὰ τεμένη ὑμῶν, καὶ καταβαλῶ τραυματίας ὑμῶν ἐνώπιον τῶν εἰδώλων ὑμῶν,
וְ/נָשַׁ֨מּוּ֙ מִזְבְּח֣וֹתֵי/כֶ֔ם וְ/נִשְׁבְּר֖וּ חַמָּֽנֵי/כֶ֑ם וְ/הִפַּלְתִּי֙ חַלְלֵי/כֶ֔ם לִ/פְנֵ֖י גִּלּוּלֵי/כֶֽם
6:5 et dabo cadavera filiorum Israel ante faciem simulacrorum vestrorum, et dispergam ossa vestra circum aras vestras :
*H And I will lay the dead carcasses of the children of Israel before your idols: and I will scatter your bones round about your altars,

καὶ διασκορπιῶ τὰ ὀστᾶ ὑμῶν κύκλῳ τῶν θυσιαστηρίων ὑμῶν,
וְ/נָתַתִּ֗י אֶת פִּגְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִ/פְנֵ֖י גִּלּֽוּלֵי/הֶ֑ם וְ/זֵרִיתִי֙ אֶת עַצְמ֣וֹתֵי/כֶ֔ם סְבִיב֖וֹת מִזְבְּחוֹתֵי/כֶֽם
6:6 in omnibus habitationibus vestris urbes desertae erunt, et excelsa demolientur et dissipabuntur : et interibunt arae vestrae, et confringentur, et cessabunt idola vestra, et conterentur delubra vestra, et delebuntur opera vestra :
In all your dwelling places. The cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be thrown down, and destroyed, and your altars shall be abolished, and shall be broken in pieces: and your idols shall be no more, and your temples shall be destroyed, and your works shall be defaced.
καὶ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ κατοικίᾳ ὑμῶν· αἱ πόλεις ἐξερημωθήσονται, καὶ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ἀφανισθήσεται, ὅπως ἐξολοθρευθῇ τὰ θυσιαστήρια ὑμῶν, καὶ συντριβήσονται τὰ εἴδωλα ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐξαρθῇ τὰ τεμένη ὑμῶν·
בְּ/כֹל֙ מוֹשְׁב֣וֹתֵי/כֶ֔ם הֶ/עָרִ֣ים תֶּחֱרַ֔בְנָה וְ/הַ/בָּמ֖וֹת תִּישָׁ֑מְנָה לְמַעַן֩ יֶחֶרְב֨וּ וְ/יֶאְשְׁמ֜וּ מִזְבְּחֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֗ם וְ/נִשְׁבְּר֤וּ וְ/נִשְׁבְּתוּ֙ גִּלּ֣וּלֵי/כֶ֔ם וְ/נִגְדְּעוּ֙ חַמָּ֣נֵי/כֶ֔ם וְ/נִמְח֖וּ מַעֲשֵׂי/כֶֽם
6:7 et cadet interfectus in medio vestri, et scietis quia ego sum Dominus.
And the slain shall fall in the midst of you: and you shall know that I am the Lord.
Καὶ πεσοῦνται τραυματίαι ἐν μέσῳ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος.
וְ/נָפַ֥ל חָלָ֖ל בְּ/תֽוֹכְ/כֶ֑ם וִֽ/ידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּֽי אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה
6:8 Et relinquam in vobis eos qui fugerint gladium in gentibus, cum dispersero vos in terris :
*H And I will leave in you some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when I shall have scattered you through the countries.
Ver. 8. Some. Providence still preserves some faithful or penitent souls. W.
Ἐν τῷ γενέσθαι ἐξ ὑμῶν ἀνασωζομένους ἐκ ῥομφαίας ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι, καὶ ἐν τῷ διασκορπισμῷ ὑμῶν ἐν ταῖς χώραις,
וְ/הוֹתַרְתִּ֗י בִּ/הְי֥וֹת לָ/כֶ֛ם פְּלִ֥יטֵי חֶ֖רֶב בַּ/גּוֹיִ֑ם בְּ/הִזָּרֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֖ם בָּ/אֲרָצֽוֹת
6:9 et recordabuntur mei liberati vestri in gentibus ad quas captivi ducti sunt : quia contrivi cor eorum fornicans et recedens a me, et oculos eorum fornicantes post idola sua : et displicebunt sibimet super malis quae fecerunt in universis abominationibus suis.
*H And they that are saved of you shall remember me amongst the nations, to which they are carried captives: because I have broken their heart that was faithless, and revolted from me: and their eyes that went a fornicating after their idols: and they shall be displeased with themselves because of the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
Ver. 9. Broken. Adversity has made them repent.
καὶ μνησθήσονταί μου οἱ ἀνασωζόμενοι ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οὗ ᾐχμαλωτεύθησαν ἐκεῖ· ὀμώμοκα τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶν τῇ ἐκπορνευούσῃ ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτῶν τοῖς ἐκπορνεύουσιν ὀπίσω τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων αὐτῶν· καὶ κόψονται πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς βδελύγμασιν αὐτῶν·
וְ/זָכְר֨וּ פְלִֽיטֵי/כֶ֜ם אוֹתִ֗/י בַּ/גּוֹיִם֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבּוּ שָׁם֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֜רְתִּי אֶת לִבָּ֣/ם הַ/זּוֹנֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁר סָר֙ מֵֽ/עָלַ֔/י וְ/אֵת֙ עֵֽינֵי/הֶ֔ם הַ/זֹּנ֕וֹת אַחֲרֵ֖י גִּלּֽוּלֵי/הֶ֑ם וְ/נָקֹ֨טּוּ֙ בִּ/פְנֵי/הֶ֔ם אֶל הָֽ/רָעוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשׂ֔וּ לְ/כֹ֖ל תּוֹעֲבֹתֵי/הֶֽם
6:10 Et scient quia ego Dominus non frustra locutus sum, ut facerem eis malum hoc.
And they shall know that I the Lord have not spoken in vain that I would do this evil to them.
Καὶ ἐπιγνώσονται διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος λελάληκα.
וְ/יָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לֹ֤א אֶל חִנָּם֙ דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת לָ/הֶ֖ם הָ/רָעָ֥ה הַ/זֹּֽאת
6:11 Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Percute manum tuam et allide pedem tuum, et dic : Heu ! ad omnes abominationes malorum domus Israel : quia gladio, fame et peste ruituri sunt.
*H Thus saith the Lord God: Strike with thy hand and stamp with thy foot, and say: Alas, for all the abominations of the evils of the house of Israel: for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

Τάδε λέγει Κύριος, κρότησον τῇ χειρὶ καὶ ψόφησον τῷ ποδὶ, καὶ εἰπὸν, εὖγε εὖγε, ἐπὶ πᾶσι τοῖς βδελύγμασιν οἴκου Ἰσραήλ· ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ἑν θανάτῳ καὶ ἐν λιμῷ πεσοῦνται.
כֹּֽה אָמַ֞ר אֲדֹנָ֣/י יְהוִ֗ה הַכֵּ֨ה בְ/כַפְּ/ךָ֜ וּ/רְקַ֤ע בְּ/רַגְלְ/ךָ֙ וֶֽ/אֱמָר אָ֔ח אֶ֛ל כָּל תּוֹעֲב֥וֹת רָע֖וֹת בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֗ר בַּ/חֶ֛רֶב בָּ/רָעָ֥ב וּ/בַ/דֶּ֖בֶר יִפֹּֽלוּ
6:12 Qui longe est, peste morietur : qui autem prope, gladio corruet : et qui relictus fuerit et obsessus, fame morietur : et complebo indignationem meam in eis.
He that is far off shall die of the pestilence: and he that is near, shall fall by the sword: and he that remaineth, and is besieged, shall die by the famine: and I will accomplish my indignation upon them.
Ὁ ἐγγὺς ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ πεσεῖται, ὁ δὲ μακρὰν ἐν θανάτῳ τελευτήσει· καὶ ὁ περιεχόμενος ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσεται· καὶ συντελέσω τὴν ὀργήν μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς.
הָ/רָח֞וֹק בַּ/דֶּ֣בֶר יָמ֗וּת וְ/הַ/קָּרוֹב֙ בַּ/חֶ֣רֶב יִפּ֔וֹל וְ/הַ/נִּשְׁאָר֙ וְ/הַ/נָּצ֔וּר בָּ/רָעָ֖ב יָמ֑וּת וְ/כִלֵּיתִ֥י חֲמָתִ֖/י בָּֽ/ם
6:13 Et scietis quia ego Dominus, cum fuerint interfecti vestri in medio idolorum vestrorum, in circuitu ararum vestrarum, in omni colle excelso, et in cunctis summitatibus montium, et subtus omne lignum nemorosum, et subtus universam quercum frondosam, locum ubi accenderunt thura redolentia universis idolis suis.
And you shall know that I am the Lord, when your slain shall be amongst your idols, round about your altars, in every high hill, and on all the tops of mountains, and under every woody tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they burnt sweet smelling frankincense to all their idols.
Καὶ γνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος, ἐν τῷ εἶναι τοὺς τραυματίας ὑμῶν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν εἰδώλων ὑμῶν κύκλῳ τῶν θυσιαστηρίων ὑμῶν· ἐπὶ πάντα βουνὸν ὑψηλὸν, καὶ ὑποκάτω δένδρου συσκίου, οὗ ἔδωκαν ἐκεῖ ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας πᾶσι τοῖς εἰδώλοις αὐτῶν.
וִֽ/ידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה בִּֽ/הְי֣וֹת חַלְלֵי/הֶ֗ם בְּ/תוֹךְ֙ גִּלּ֣וּלֵי/הֶ֔ם סְבִיב֖וֹת מִזְבְּחֽוֹתֵי/הֶ֑ם אֶל֩ כָּל גִּבְעָ֨ה רָמָ֜ה בְּ/כֹ֣ל רָאשֵׁ֣י הֶ/הָרִ֗ים וְ/תַ֨חַת כָּל עֵ֤ץ רַֽעֲנָן֙ וְ/תַ֨חַת֙ כָּל אֵלָ֣ה עֲבֻתָּ֔ה מְק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָֽתְנוּ שָׁם֙ רֵ֣יחַ נִיחֹ֔חַ לְ/כֹ֖ל גִּלּוּלֵי/הֶֽם
6:14 Et extendam manum meam super eos : et faciam terram desolatam et destitutam, a deserto Deblatha, in omnibus habitationibus eorum : et scient quia ego Dominus.]
*H And I will stretch forth my hand upon them: and I will make the land desolate, and abandoned from the desert of Deblatha in all their dwelling places: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Ver. 14. From, or, "more than," (H.) as Heb. may signify. Deblatha was in the land of Moab. Num. xxxiii. 46. C.
Καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς, καὶ θήσομαι τὴν γῆν εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ εἰς ὄλεθρον ἀπὸ τῆς ἐρήμου Δεβλαθὰ ἐκ πάσης τῆς κατοικεσίας αὐτῶν· ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος.
וְ/נָטִ֤יתִי אֶת יָדִ/י֙ עֲלֵי/הֶ֔ם וְ/נָתַתִּ֨י אֶת הָ/אָ֜רֶץ שְׁמָמָ֤ה וּ/מְשַׁמָּה֙ מִ/מִּדְבַּ֣ר דִּבְלָ֔תָ/ה בְּ/כֹ֖ל מוֹשְׁבֽוֹתֵי/הֶ֑ם וְ/יָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה
